How to sell company data for AI training in the UK

Short answer: UK companies with substantial operational know-how can explore licensing that material for AI training through programmes such as micro1’s Company Data Partnerships. Start with a high-level fit check, keep personal data protected under UK GDPR, and treat published pay ranges as published ranges — not a guaranteed offer. Data Licensing Introductions is an independent introducer: we can help you sense-check fit and register via our referral link; micro1 decides acceptance and any package terms.

We are an independent introducer. micro1 may pay us a commission. That fee is paid to us by micro1; we don’t charge you a fee for this introduction.

What “selling company data” usually means here

In this market, people often mean licensing operational business records — how the company actually works — rather than selling a marketing list. micro1’s public pages describe partnerships around existing business documentation and operational datasets (for example SOPs, project histories, CRM and support history), with data primarily in English. See micro1 data partnerships and company referral.

Other names you may see online (marketplaces, brokers, overseas programmes) are separate businesses. This page is about exploring a careful introduction to micro1 via Data Licensing Introductions, for UK owners and directors.

A practical sequence (UK)

  1. Stay high-level first. Describe systems, approximate size, sector and history — not staff inboxes or customer databases. See data safety.
  2. Check rough fit. For the Enterprise track, micro1 looks for established companies with 30+ staff, at least 2 years’ trading, data that is about 70%+ English, and real operational history, prioritising the US and other Western markets including the UK. Fit is their call.
  3. Think about UK data protection early. Where personal data is involved, the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 still apply. The ICO’s guidance on lawful basis and on providing clear privacy information is a sensible starting point. We are not your lawyers.
  4. Register through a referral link if you proceed. Attribution needs the company’s own registration via the unique link. Manual introductions do not replace that process on micro1’s rules.
  5. micro1 assesses and, if accepted, agrees package terms. Published company compensation for approved packages is $100K–$2M+. That is not a valuation of your business and not a guaranteed payout.

What micro1 publishes about money (not a promise)

On its company referral page, micro1 publishes company compensation of $100K–$2M+ for approved data packages. Separately, it publishes referral rewards paid to introducers (for example $50,000 for Enterprise Data Partnerships on deals up to $700,000, or 7.5% above that threshold). Those referral figures are what micro1 may pay us — not an extra invoice to you. Details: How we are paid and The money.

Privacy and ownership before commercial interest

You need a clear right to deal with the records. If the material includes personal data, consider purpose, lawful basis, minimisation, and what people were told. The ICO publishes organisation-facing guidance on these topics; gov.uk’s data protection overview is another plain entry point. Nothing should leave your control until you understand the terms.

FAQ

Is this the same as selling customer data for marketing?

No. The programmes we introduce focus on operational know-how and business documentation for AI development, not a classic marketing-list sale. Different rules and risks apply; take advice that fits your case.

Do I need to understand AI?

No. You need to understand your own business. We and micro1 handle the technical side of whether your know-how fits.

Are you micro1?

No. We are an independent introducer. See How we are paid.

What if we are winding down or in an insolvency process?

There is a separate Defunct Company Data Partnership aimed at companies that are no longer operating. Office-holders should start from authority and duties. See Data as an estate asset and For insolvency practitioners.

If this sounds relevant, send a short high-level note — sector, approximate headcount, main systems, and what you are hoping to explore. We will help sense-check fit. No raw records in the first email.
